River - Gallery 1

Dark Dart

If local rumour is to be believed, several sites exist along the Dart where calling stones are present. The broad stones at Rowbrook are such. These claim the life of anyone who listens to the river for too long by quietly calling the victim´s name until they are tempted into the waters and drown.
Don´t believe local rumour, it´s just for tourists. I always do my best work around this river, as I´ve been told the Dartness Monster eats only bad landscape artists and acorns.

Katys Rock

Ask me no more: thy fate and mine are sealed.
I strove against the stream and all in vain.
Let the great river take me to the main.
No more, dear love, for at a touch I yield;
Ask me no more.

Tennyson
